Biography
Dr. Echeveste attended the University of Maryland, College Park for her undergraduate studies, where she majored in communication and minored in community health. During her senior year, she interned at the White House in the Domestic Policy Counsel in the Office of National AIDS Policy. Prior to starting medical school, she worked for a global public affairs firm, where she helped to manage a national prescription assistance program and to launch an adolescent dating violence awareness campaign. While in medical school at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, she taught a course called the Humanism Symposium, which explored the full range of what it means to be a humanistic physician. She completed her internship and residency program at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC.
